Who are we? What do we do?
With a strong focus on maintaining a high quality service and no waiting list, DOTS has worked closely with hospitals, GPs, Specialists, Schools and Nursing Agencies since 2006. We are the preferred provider of community-based occupational therapy and dietetics for several hospitals, community aged care providers, private organisations and many GPs across Brisbane.
We have built strong relationships with other agencies, further enabling a wholistic approach for our clients.

Occupational Therapy for adultsAs a team, we have a strong background in acute hospital work, furthering our understanding of complex conditions. We employ many staff who have worked in inpatient rehabilitation (neurological, orthopaedic and more). We offer high quality rehabilitation at home and in the community following hospitalisation.
We work to enable older people to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, maximising independence, a sense of freedom and safety. This includes people with cognitive decline and dementia. We work closely with other professionals and community services and can offer coordination of professions and care services to ensure best possible care. We assist younger disabled adults with home modifications, assistive technology prescription and education / rehabilitation so that they can imagine a better future. |
Dietetics for adultsOur Dietetics service is all in-home, suiting those who find it difficult to get to clinic-based appointments.
We truly assess each individual's needs, taking into account age, diagnoses, medication and support services. We understand that many factors can influence our capacity to absorb necessary nutrients from our food, and that medical conditions can impact our access to source and prepare an optimum diet. We can also help patients transition management of tube feeds from hospital to home so they feel confident and capable of self-management. Our Dietitians also come with a strong hospital background. They understand the complexities of chronic disease, acute conditions and the transition from hospital to home with changed dietary needs. |
Specialised servicesMany of our staff have completed additional formal training as their careers have progressed.
All OT staff are trained in the management of venous insufficiency including compression bandaging and the prescription of compression garments (stockings). We work closely with people experiencing leg swelling (oedema), skin changes to their legs (such as stasis dermatitis) and wounds including chronic ulcers. Our DTs can provide important information about how wounds affect your nutrient balance while our OTs help with managing the swelling and improving circulation. We work alongside Dermatologists and specialised wound clinics. |
