What to expect from your OT assessment
Once we receive a referral, we will call you to make an appointment to come to your home.
As health professionals, we will assess your physical capacity to safely move in and around your home including using steps or moving through doorways with tread changes and your 'transfers'. These are the movements you make from one place to another. Such as from lying in bed to standing up. Or, getting out of your lounge chair.
This information helps us to understand how you move, your confidence in movement and your potential falls risk.
When assessing you for an environmental modification, such as a grab rail, we assess your movement and how you move to be sure that rail placement is ergonomically sound for your use. (Not everyone moves in the same way or has the same length limbs, so individual assessment is very important).
